Privacy policy

This site (brekel.com) is a static website run by Brekel, a one-person company. It has no user accounts, no comments, no ads, and it does not use tracking cookies. The little data it does handle is described below.

Contact and evaluation forms

What you enter in the contact form or the evaluation license request form (name, email address, message) is sent to me as an email and used only to answer you or to handle your request. Form submissions are not stored in a database on the server. To limit spam, a short-lived session cookie is set when you submit a form (used only to enforce a cooldown between submissions); it contains no personal data.

Analytics

The site counts visits with GoatCounter, a privacy-friendly analytics service. It records the page you visited, the referring site, your browser and operating system, screen size, and a country derived from your IP address. It does not use cookies, does not store your IP address, and does not build a profile of you, which is why there is no cookie banner on this site. See GoatCounter's privacy policy.

Server logs

Like almost every website, the web server keeps standard access logs (IP address, requested URL, browser user agent). They are used only to keep the site running, debug problems and deal with abuse, and are rotated automatically.

Embedded videos

Some pages embed videos from YouTube or Vimeo. Playing (or on some pages merely loading) an embed connects your browser to those services, which may collect data as described in their own privacy policies, just as if you visited their sites directly.

The shop

The online shop is a separate system. When you buy something it collects what is needed to process your order (such as your name, email address and billing details), and orders plus the licenses emailed to you are kept on record so purchases can be looked up and licenses re-sent later. Payment processing is handled by the payment providers shown at checkout; this site never sees your payment details.

You can ask at any time what data I hold about you, or ask to have it corrected or deleted, apart from records like invoices that have to be kept for the legally required period.
